With election season rolling around the corner, we will find ourselves in Iowa quite a bit. In my collegiate athletic travels in the Big 12 conference, I can tell you with 100% certainty that Hickory Park was our favorite restaurant. I didn't think I would ever say some of the best BBQ is in Iowa. The menu (http://www.hickorypark-bbq.com/menu.html) is ridiculous. I was a big fan of their ribs selection. The beef ribs are huge but the pork ribs are more tender. The meal portions are really big. But save room for the dessert. Fifty-one, that's right, FIFTY-ONE different sundaes adorn the dessert menu. Or you could just go for a Float, Frappe, or Phosphate.
It's worth the 35 mile drive from Des Moines to taste the best Ames has to offer.

Open Sun-Thurs until 9 and 10 on Friday and Saturday.

Denver, CO

Willie G's

1585 Lawrence Street
Denver, Colorado 80202
303-575-9000

Known for serving fresh seafood specialties and recognized nationally as one of the top upscale seafood restaurants, Willie G's is in a class by itself. Oh yeah, my brother is the sous chef, too.

If you find yourself in downtown and have a craving for seafood or steak, stop by the restaurant and ask for Matt Harlan. He'll take care of you....otherwise his big brother will take care of him.

The gems of this menu (http://www.williegs.com/menus/WGS_Denver.pdf) are the Nut Crusted Halibut, Snapper Kathleen, and the filet and lobster tail combo. Their crab and lobster are flown in fresh daily from Maine. Personally I can't deal with seafood so I head for the "turf" portion of the menu. If you catch the right Specials menu, go for the buffalo prime rib.....simply mouth-watering.

The restaurant is located just off the 16th Street Mall on the corner of 15th and Lawrence.
